Eye masks, sprays or sterile wipes for cleaning and care of the eyes
Hygiene is very important when cleaning and caring for the delicate eyelids. It is all too easy for bacteria to build up when dealing with the eyes, which can lead to acute inflammation or even chronic symptoms. Use eye masks, sterile wipes, and sprays to gently remove dirt and secretions and relieve irritation.
Compresses and eye masks
Cold compresses can sometimes be a quick home remedy for puffy, irritated eyes. Cool, damp wipes are suitable for this purpose. When placed on the eyes for a few minutes, they can reduce the swelling and calm the irritation. If the eyelids are already irritated, it is best to use sterile compresses. They are individually packed and ensure germ-free cleaning of the eyes and eyelids.
However, to loosen sticky discharge and encrustations between the lashes, warm compresses are the better choice. Chronic blepharitis or meibomian gland dysfunction can be treated well with heat treatment followed by eyelid margin hygiene, for example.
Because in the case of eyelid margin inflammation or meibomian gland dysfunction, a constant heat should be applied over a period of several minutes to soften accumulated secretion in the eyelid margin glands, self-heating eye masks are the more effective alternative to compresses. They make daily eyelid margin hygiene easier by liquefying hardened secretions, softening crusty deposits between the lashes and promoting blood circulation to the eyelids.
Eye care spray
Irritated eyelids also need care throughout the day; otherwise, they can burn, itch and become red. An eye spray is the practical solution for on the go, as it can be applied at any time without contact. One spray several times a day relieves irritation that can be triggered by extended screen work or environmental influences. It can be used as supportive care for chronic inflammation of the eyelid margins. It immediately gives the eyes a refreshed, relaxed feeling. The eye spray can even be sprayed on eyelids that you have already applied make-up to without smudging it.
A nourishing eye spray also supports eyelid margin hygiene. You can apply a spray to a cotton pad and use it to gently clean the eyelids if you don't have a lid hygiene wipe on hand. Above all, however, it acts as a finishing touch to your care routine, soothing the eyelids that have become irritated after cleaning.
Sterile wipes for the eyes
Cleaning with a conventional cotton pad can also rub bacteria into the eye. Sterile wipes are therefore suitable as a hygienic alternative. Eyelid hygiene wipes are pre-moistened, sterile disposable wipes that you can use to gently remove dust, pollen, sticky discharge and encrustations from your eyelids.
They are used in daily eyelid margin hygiene after heat treatment and lid margin massage to remove secretion residues from the eyelid margins. However, they can also be used during the day as needed to clean the eyelid margins to keep the eyes feeling comfortable throughout the day.
Sterile wipes for the eyes are pre-moistened with a nourishing liquid. They soothe irritation and care for the eyelids at the same time. The great advantage of sterile wipes is that: They are individually packaged and can be taken with you on the go, for example in a handbag. This makes cleaning and eye care possible at any time. Use a fresh sterile wipe for each eye to avoid transferring germs from one eye to the other.
